Heirs of OFW seaman settles P3,054,638.25 before NLRC-RAB 7 Labor Arbiter
The heirs of Mr. Joel Evardo, a deceased OFW-Seaman, gets P3,054,638.25 as settlement award, against the employer, Overseas Bulk Transport Corp.
The claim of the heirs of the OFW involves monetary claims and other benefits.
The case was filed in the Regional Arbitration Branch No. 7-Cebu City before Executive Labor Arbiter Emiliano C. Tiongco, Jr. on March 12, 2013. And on March 15, 2013 or three (3) days after the filing, the case was settled.
The amicable settlement of the cases was assisted by the respondent counsel and the wife of the deceased OFW, acknowledging the receipt of the amounts that represents full and final settlement of the claims.
The amicable settlement of case upon a fair compromise is one of the purposes of mandatory conciliation and mediation conference before the Labor Arbiter under the 2011 NLRC Rules of Procedure, as amended, and the Labor Code, as amended.
