NLRC-NCR Labor Arbiters settled 159 cases in less than 5 days amounting to P108.58 Million in January 2013

          Of the 210 cases disposed of by the NCR Labor Arbiters in January 2013, 159 cases are settled in favor of 207 workers in less than five (5) days, with an award amounting to P108,583,033.64. This settled cases involves monetary claims ranging from P5,000 to P6,542,480.

         The 207 workers benefitted involve local and OFW workers, with claims arising from backwages, 13thmonth pay, separation pay and other monetary claims and benefits.

         The cases filed in the National Capital Region (NCR) constitute 55% to 65% of the total cases filed in the arbitration level (Regional Arbitration Branches) of the NLRC.         

         The amicable settlement of the cases was assisted by the respective counsels and representatives of the workers and employers, acknowledging the receipt of the amounts that represents full and final settlement of the claims.

         The amicable settlement of case upon a fair compromise is one of the purposes of mandatory conciliation and mediation conference before the Labor Arbiter under the 2011 NLRC Rules of Procedure, as amended, and the Labor Code, as amended.
