MESSAGE

CHAIRMAN GERARDO C. NOGRALES

         The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), a quasi-judicial agency attached to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), is mandated to adjudicate labor and management disputes involving both local and overseas workers through compulsory arbitration and alternative modes of dispute resolution.
 
          With a strategic mission firmly in place, the NLRC embarked on a far-reaching labor and employment agenda in previous years, furthering its efforts to be the pre-eminent government agency which has taken the lead in promoting and maintaining industrial peace based on social justice through economically-viable dispute settlement machinery.

NLRC-NCR Labor Arbiter finds call center agent dismissal illegal

          In a Decision on February 8, 2013, an NCR Labor Arbiter ruled in favor of the customer service representative or call center agent against The Resource Group Philippines for illegal dismissal.

          The complainant, Jesus Apuan, filed a complaint for illegal dismissal with claims for backwages and reinstatement/separation pay and damages against the company.

Dental technician won before NLRC-NCR Labor Arbiter for illegal dismissal

          In a Decision on January 29, 2013, an NCR Labor Arbiter ruled in favor of the dental technician against Pandora Dental Equipment Corp. for illegal dismissal.

          The complainant, Mr. Jesus Bareng, filed a complaint for illegal dismissal with prayer for payment of backwages, underpayment of overtime, and other benefits against the company.

Warehouseman and helper won before NLRC-NCR Labor Arbiter for illegal dismissal

          In a Decision on January 29, 2013, an NCR Labor Arbiter ruled in favor of the warehouseman and helper against Megawide Construction Corporation for illegal dismissal.

           The complainants, Casakit and Odina, filed a complaint for illegal dismissal with prayer for reinstatement and payment of backwages and other benefits against the company.

Taxi driver won before NLRC-NCR Labor Arbiter for illegal dismissal

           In a Decision on January 2013, an NCR Labor Arbiter ruled in favor of the taxi driver against JJPNB Transport Services for illegal dismissal.

           The complainant filed a complaint for illegal dismissal against the company.

NLRC-NCR Labor Arbiter finds online freelance writer regular employee

           In a Decision on January 2013, an NCR Labor Arbiter ruled in favor of an online freelance writer of the Philippine Online Chronicles against Vibal Foundation, Inc.

Security guards won before NLRC-NCR Labor Arbiter

          In a four separate decisions on January 2013, an NCR Labor Arbiter ruled in favor of the security guards against the Maxim Security Agency, Lambdan Security Agency, 3rdAlert Security and Detective Services, Inc. and Armijoy Security Agency.

NLRC-NCR Labor Arbiter finds garment sewer and dressmaker regular employee

          In a Decision dated 28 January 2013, an NCR Labor Arbiter ruled that a garment sewer and dressmaker of Metromed Enterprises Co. is a regular employee.

          The company claims that all of their employees are project based employees designated to a particular project and whose employment is co-terminus with the completion of the said project.

NLRC-NCR Labor Arbiters settled 168 cases in less than 5 days amounting to P114 Million

           Of the 350 cases settled by the NCR Labor Arbiters in February 2013 filed cases, 168 cases are settled in favor of 165 workers in less than five (5) days, with a total award of P114,101,074.18. These settled cases involves monetary claims ranging from P3,500 to P5,109,483.73.

Heirs of OFW seaman settles P3,054,638.25 before NLRC-RAB 7 Labor Arbiter

            The heirs of Mr. Joel Evardo, a deceased OFW-Seaman, gets P3,054,638.25 as settlement award, against the employer, Overseas Bulk Transport Corp.

            The claim of the heirs of the OFW involves monetary claims and other benefits.
